ABOUT SARAH SOARS
A safe place to ask the hard questions, tell the truth, and begin again.
A safe place to ask the hard questions, tell the truth, and begin again.
Sarah Soars is a minister, speaker, writer, and the creator of the EMERGE Method- a transformational framework for women and progressive people of faith who are ready to reclaim their voice, reconnect with their needs, and rebuild their relationship with God from the inside out.
For nearly two decades, Sarah served in ministry and nonprofit leadership, offering care to others while quietly abandoning herself. Like many women raised in conservative faith traditions, she was taught that disappearing into service was sacred. Over time, the pressure of ministry, the expectations of church culture, and her own internalized beliefs took a deep toll- physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
After stepping away from her role as a pastor, Sarah walked 175 miles along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. That journey became both pilgrimage and awakening- where she began to reclaim her identity and her faith. What emerged from that experience- and the healing work that followed- would become the foundation for everything she teaches today.
Now, through her writing, speaking, and coaching, Sarah helps others untangle toxic theology, heal from self-betrayal, and rediscover the sacredness of their own voice and presence.
Sarah's life's aim is summed up in a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
Her sincere hope is that you breathe a bit easier as a result of your time engaging with her life and words through this site.
A pathway to wholeness, rooted in love- not performance.
The EMERGE Method is Sarah’s signature framework- a six-part process designed to lead people out of the shadows of shame, fear, and spiritual exhaustion and into a life aligned with their God-given worth.
It honors the best of organized faith- community, belonging, transformation- while gently releasing the parts that caused harm.
Begin by tuning in to the longings within. Desire isn’t selfish- it’s sacred.
Healing starts when we stop disappearing. Rebuild trust with the person at the center of your story.
You were never meant to be silent. Your story is needed. Your voice is holy.
Worth isn’t something to earn. It’s something to remember.
Let go of old theology and narratives that keep you small. Choose something better.
Live, lead, and love from your full truth- with joy, rest, and peace.
Coming Soon: A Memoir for the Silenced and Searching
Sarah’s forthcoming book, The Canary Chirps, is a spiritual memoir for those who’ve spent a lifetime trying to be good, obedient, and approved- only to discover they’ve lost themselves in the process.
In each chapter, she explores what it means to emerge from self-abandonment into flourishing faith. This book is both a personal reflection and a gentle invitation for anyone ready to reclaim their identity, voice, and relationship with God.
Because every woman deserves to heal and rise.
Sarah serves as the Board Pastor for SEARCH SE (Southeast Asia Rescue Coalition and Haven), a nonprofit working to end sexual exploitation and abuse across Southeast Asia through prevention, rescue, and holistic restoration.
In partnership with local leaders, SEARCH offers safe housing, trauma-informed care, and life-giving resources for previously exploited and at-risk women and children. From farming and financial literacy to jewelry-making and art therapy, the women in this community are not just surviving- they are rising.
Their stories, strength, and sacred resilience continue to shape Sarah’s work and perspective every day.
Sarah’s work has been featured in Children’s Ministry Magazine, Mutuality, The Jesus Creed, and the Africanus Journal of Gordon-Conwell Seminary. She also serves on the boards of Pilgrims of Ibillin and the Del Camino Connection.
She lives with her family on an island near Charleston, South Carolina. When she’s not writing, speaking, or supporting others through spiritual transition, you’ll find her reading with a chai latte, watching Hallmark movies, or enjoying cereal straight from the box- no milk necessary.
Sarah offers pre-marital coaching using a book called "Preparing Couples for Love and Marriage" by Cameron Lee and James L. Furrow. The focus of the sessions is on building skills in communication and conflict resolution.
